Labor court hearings in Brazil: how they work and what to bring
Published · Updated
At a labor hearing, the judge tries to settle, hears the parties and witnesses. Missing it may dismiss the case and cost fees. Step by step and what to bring.

At a labor hearing, the judge first tries to reach a settlement. Without one, the judge receives the employer's defense, hears the parties and witnesses and may close the evidence phase. The worker must attend in person: missing it without justification dismisses the case and may cost court fees (CLT, art. 844). If the employer does not attend, it is in default.
